Redesign and Design System Creation for La Provence

Context

During my time at La Provence, I worked as both a designer and project manager within a team, contributing to the complete redesign of the website across desktop and mobile, as well as the creation of a new design system. This design system provided a shared foundation throughout the redesign process, ensuring a consistent experience across the entire platform.

Challenge

How might we modernize the experience of a regional daily news website while encouraging users to rediscover and engage with the news?

Tools

Figma, Jira, Slack, FigmaJam

Objectives

Build a stronger community around La Provence and develop new ways for readers to access and engage with news, based on their different needs and behaviors.

Process

The design system was developed over several weeks, prioritizing key components. We also conducted user surveys to identify needs and pain points. Based on these insights, I created personas and mapped key user journeys, including the user account area and the new audio page.

account area

The goal was to redesign the user account area to make it easier for subscribers to find and manage the information related to their account. I modernized the interface and reworked its structure to make the different sections easier to access. New sections, such as invoices, were introduced, while key actions, including changing the payment method, were simplified. I also introduced alert snackbars to clearly inform users whenever an issue occurred with their subscription.

Audio & Podcasts

The goal was to bring together audio content generated through a new AI powered tool, which transforms selected articles and key news stories into audio formats. I designed a dedicated page with a visual identity inspired by podcast platforms.

Podcasts

I also created a dedicated podcast section, as episodes were previously published as regular articles and mixed with other content.

Each podcast now has its own visual identity, with all episodes grouped together. Filters also allow users to explore content based on their interests and easily find their next listen.
